Student participants are not permitted to use the internet or AI for research or generating speech content during the tournament.
Judging
To provide the best experience for students and volunteers, we provide judge training at every event!
- All students must provide one judge for the event.
- Students that do not provide a judge may be unable to compete.
- Judges do not need previous experience.
- Judge registration will open here from January 29 - February 5.
Student Registration
- A registration form must be filled in for each student.
- Space may be limited.
- Family observers must be registered on the student registration form.
- Debater registration will open here from January 29 - February 5
Tournament Fee
- $20 tournament fee per student.
- We offer financial aid when cost is a barrier to participation. Financial aid can be selected on the registration form.
- You will be sent a link to pay by credit card within 48 hours or registering.
- Teams that cancel less than 24 hours before the tournament will still owe tournament fees.
Speech Categories
The speech categories for this event will be available here in January. Categories may include the following:
- Interpretative Reading: The student delivers a rendition of a piece of pre-written material from a book, poem, story, etc.
- Persuasive Speaking: The student delivers a speech designed to persuade that they have planned in advance.
- Impromptu speaking: The student chooses a topic from a small selection, prepares for 10 minutes, then presents a speech on the topic.
