• Who: Open to SEDA members in grades 5 to 12
• Format:
  • National Style Debate.
  • 3 rounds 
  • Motion type: impromptu

Motions

• This tournament will have three impromptu motions.
• The theme of the motions will be veganism and the animal rights movement.
• Students will be given a motion 30 minutes before each round. Students will use that 30 minute to prepare for the debate.
• Student participants are not permitted to use phones or internet capable devices during the tournament.

Judging

To provide the best experience for students and volunteers, we provide judge training at every event! 

• All teams must provide one judge for the event.
• Teams that do not provide a judge may be unable to compete. 
• Judges do not need previous experience.
• Judge registration will be open from October 23 to 30. Click HERE to register as a judge!

Student Registration

• A registration form must be filled in for each student.
• Space may be limited. 
• If you do not have a partner, SEDA will do its best to match you with a partner.
• Debater registration will be open here from from October 23 to 30. Click HERE to register a student! 

Tournament Fee

• $40 tournament fee per student. 
• We offer financial aid when cost is a barrier to participation. Financial aid can be selected on the registration form.
• You will be sent a link to pay by credit card within 48 hours or registering.
• Teams that cancel less than 24 hours before the tournament will still owe tournament fees.

Meals

• Bring a water bottle.
• Lunch is provided for debaters, coaches, judges, and volunteer moderators.
• Observers can purchase a lunch ticket for $10. This must be indicated on the student registration form.

Travel & Travel Fees

SEDA is not providing transportation for this event.
