Saskatoon Speech and Debate Camp

Saskatoon Speech and Debate Camp
University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon

Debate camp is for students in grades 5-12 who are wanting to learn all about speech and debate. We offer multiple class sections throughout the day to make sure students with all levels of experience can be adequately challenged. At debate camp, we recognize every debater is at a different stage of learning, and we want to accommodate all debaters. Those who are brand new to debate can work on basic skills, while more advanced students can focus on specific skills for higher levels of debate. Beginner students are streamed into a set of classes designed to cover all the basics of debate, while students who have debate experience will be selecting their own courses during camp.

A day of debate camp begins with a full camp activity related to the more individualized classes before students split up for their selected courses. Campers can expect days with classes focused on individual skills combined with related games and activities. Each day ends with campers working to combine newly learned skills in related activities.
