These classes will focus on prepparing students to approach debate topics. Over the two class days, students will learn how to interpret motions and how to identify the big ideas of the debate. They will then practice using prep strategies like actors wheels and SPLEEM to be able to brainstorm enough ideas to develop effective cases. At the end of the week on day three, students will get to apply what they've learned in a round of debate with their classmates.
For brand new debaters or debaters who have just finished their first year. Classes with the beginner tag are focused on foundational skills to help you understand the basics of debate. Often students in grades 5-6.
